The building’s historic character had been stifled by insensitive alteration and an unsightly conservatory. Internal alterations improved light, movement and the views towards Elie Beach; the conservatory was replaced by a sleek glass extension with a slender steel structure and a pre-patinated copper roof, creating new dining, living and kitchen areas connected to the private courtyard and the sea beyond.
